Return Policies in Phase 2

As stores are reopening, many retailers have extended their return policies to accommodate for the abrupt store closures back in March and April. Many retailers announced closures of stores within 24 hours giving many customers no opportunities to return or exchange their merchandise.

Many stores will offer returns and exchanges outside of their normal policies due to extenuating circumstances. If you explain your situation to the store staff member, many stores would be willing to accommodate.

Here’s a round-up of return policies that many customers should be aware of:

Apparel and Fashion

lululemon

We can accept returns for items bought online or in-store in our stores once they reopen (as long as they weren’t final sale). Just bring proof of payment along, and make sure your items are unwashed and unworn, with tags attached. We’ve expedited our returns and exchanges process to speed things along.

Good news—we’ve extended our 30 day return policy. If you bought your gear on or after February 15th, you can return or exchange it in-store up to 30 days after your local store opens.

COVID-19 Updates Shopping Things to do

BC Phase 2 Reopening: Tsawwassen Mills

Tsawwassen Mills has opened for business. It is one of the popular malls and features clearance and outlet stores from major vendors.

Stores open and line ups

The majority of the stores at Tsawwassen Mills are open, such as lululemon and Nike. Major stores that are not open include: Victoria’s Secret, PINK by Victoria’s Secret.

Many stores do have two line-ups: one for general merchandise shopping to allow customers to browse through the store and one for returns.

Not all stores have a line up as it depends on the stores capacity. Store capacities may vary from store to store. Stores that you can expect to have line ups include: lululemon, Nike, Adidas, H&M, Calvin Klein and Winners.

For a list of stores that are open, please visit Tsawwassen Mills’ website and filter by stores that are open.

Due to the nature of Tsawwassen Mills being an outlet mall, many vendors, such as lululemon, DO NOT offer pick up in store at this location. Check with your vendors to confirm.

For sanitation purposes, many stores such as Sport Chek do not allow guests to try on clothes. Stores like lululemon and Garage do allow guests to try on clothes. Check with the store to see if this is an option for you. If you cannot try on clothes, you can always buy it and return it at a later time.

Digital signage for store directory has been turned off to reduce frequent touch points. The mall directory is available on the website and the mall offers free wireless internet to guests. The mall also offers a phone number for patrons to text if they need assistance.

Although no stores require patrons to wear a mask, many stores do force or recommend customers to sanitize their hands with hand sanitizers that are provided.

The mall has also removed many of the typical seatings in the corridor to reduce contact. If visiting Tsawwassen Mills, expect to stand as much as if you were at Disneyland.

Food court and dining

The food court is in limited operations with tables spaced apart to allow for social distancing, with half of the vendors open for business.

Restaurants at the mall are open and most only have carry-out options.

Flow of Traffic

Directional signage at Tsawwassen Mills. Photo: Andy Shen

There is still bidirectional traffic down the corridor, but the mall would like patrons to walk down the right hand side of the hallway.

Tsawwassen Mills has put signage on the ground and in displays showing the flow of traffic, while reminding guests to maintain two-metre separation.

Stay home if sick

Reminder: BC is still in Phase 2 of the Restart BC plan. COVID is still a risk to British Columbians.

When out in public, make sure you maintain a two metre separation between you and others. If you believe that you have come into contact with the virus, wear a mask. Masks help keep your virus in to prevent it from being spread.

If you have symptoms of coronavirus, which includes a fever, cough or shortness of breath, stay home.

One last thing

Formerly Forever 21. Photo: Andy Shen

Forever 21 announced the closure of their Canadian stores back in 2019. Many stores are struggling as closing for several weeks and months have resulted limited cash flow and some retailers have filed for bankruptcy or announced closure of stores.

Make sure you support your favourite retailers and make sure you support small businesses in your community. Together, we can get through this.

Community - Coquitlam COVID-19 Updates Shopping

BC Phase 2 Reopening: Coquitlam Centre

Popular stores like lululemon, Apple, Best Buy (use outdoor entrance), grocery stores like Walmart and T&T, big box stores like London Drugs, and Golf Town are open.

Personal service establishments like the dentist, barbers (Esquire Barbers but not Sparky’s), optometry (Pearl Vision) are open but an appointment may be required. Call your professional to book.

Other stores open now include but are not limited to Aritzia, Sport Chek, Garage, Below The Belt, Suzy Shier, Purdys, Champs, Ardene, Ben Moss, Ann Louise, Pandora, EB Games, Guess, American Eagle Outfitters, Uniqlo, H&M, Sephora, RW and Co and Dynamite. Coquitlam Centre website has a comprehensive list of stores that are open.

Asian establishments like T&T and Uniqlo require an IR forehead temperature check to enter the establishment. T&T additionally requires a mask to enter. Each store will have its own policy and they will inform you of the policy when you talk to the staff member at the entrance.

Food Court

The empty food court at Coquitlam Centre. There are limited food options as some vendors have not restarted operations (Photo: Andy Shen)

Most food court vendors are closed. McDonald’s is closed. Gazba Persian Grill, Kobe Japanese Grill, Chachi’s, Jugo Juice, Thai Express are the only vendors open.

Tables have been adjusted to allow for social distancing acceptable to provincial regulations.

Line Ups and Returns

Line up stickers are put on the ground to indicate where people should stand in the line up to allow for 6 feet social distancing. (Photo: Andy Shen)

Lineups everywhere to limit the number of people in stores to allow social distancing. Stores like lululemon in Coquitlam Centre have a temporary limit of 8 guests at any given time. These limits vary depending on store size and whether individuals can maintain distancing.

These social distancing measures are temporary and will be lifted once COVID-19 is declared over. There might be an influx of customers at the mall due to returns. I noticed a lot of customers walking into the mall with their mail-order products, likely to return merchandise within store policy.

If you are returning merchandise, stores like lululemon and Apple have extended their return policy. Check your stores website or contact the store for more information.

Payment Methods

If you are visiting the mall with only cash, you might be limited to what you can purchase. Use of digital payment methods (American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and others) are recommended when accepted. The use of cash has been discouraged.

If you need to purchase something from a store that only accepts credit cards and you don’t have a credit card, you can visit Walmart or any grocery store to purchase pre-paid credit cards.

Online orders and returns

Coquitlam Centre Curbside Pickup (Photo: Andy Shen)

Online pick-up is available for most stores. Order online (ie at lululemon.com or apple.ca) and pick up at the door without needing to line up. If your store supports curbside pick up, stalls are available near Dollarama.

After you arrive at Coquitlam Centre and park at the curbside pickup stall, call the store and let them know your stall number. If your store supports curbside pickup, a staff member will come out to give you your purchase.

Stay home

Some stores will take longer to open up. They want to get it right and want to prevent viruses from being spread. Be patient.

If you’re sick, stay home. If you’re out, maintain 6 feet separation (length of a lululemon yoga mat). Wear a mask if possible. Symptoms of COVID include fever, cough and shortness of breath.
