On November 3, 2026, I visited Academy Farms, a grass-fed bison and water buffalo farm market in south Langley. Expect premium prices: buffalo cuts run about $23–72/kg, and the best bison steaks reach about $98/kg.
The farm market is a big barn-style building beside open pastures, and it’s a stop on the Circle Farm Tour. Inside you’ll find walls of freezers packed with bison, buffalo and heritage pork, a case of smoked sausages, cheese made from the farm’s own buffalo milk, and a full pantry and produce section. A sign out front advertises a free Christmas Market every Saturday in December, 10 AM to 3 PM.

Bison and buffalo
All of the bison and buffalo is labelled grass-fed. Ground buffalo at $23.13/kg is the most affordable way in, while bison tenderloin tops the case at $97.59/kg.

Buffalo patties were $11.99 a pack and bison patties $15.99. A typical bison sirloin tip steak came to about $11–23 a pack.
Sausages and heritage pork
The buffalo sausages are 85% buffalo and 15% pork, and most packs cost $7.99–16.99. Heritage pork chops are $16.99/kg, boneless or bone-in.

Chicken, eggs and buffalo-milk cheese
The cheese case is the most unusual part of the shop: goudas, mozzarella, feta, paneer and cheese curds made with Academy Farms’ own buffalo milk, mostly at $3.15–4.59 per 100 g. The chicken comes from Campbell Valley Organic Farms, just down the road.

Buffalo milk was sold out on my visit. A sign said more would be available Tuesday at 10 AM.
Heat ‘n Eat meals, gelato and pantry
The freezers also hold ready-to-heat meals and house-made gelato, every flavour at $14.99 a pint.

The rest of the store is a well-stocked grocery: pasta and sauces, gluten-free snacks, pickles, jams, teas, oils, local garlic and produce. There’s also a basket of Paw-Cuterie freeze-dried dog treats at the counter.
Final thoughts
Academy Farms isn’t a budget stop, but nowhere else nearby sells this much grass-fed bison and buffalo in one place. Start with the $23.13/kg ground buffalo or a pack of smokies, and don’t leave without trying the buffalo-milk cheese or a pint of gelato. If you’re visiting in December, plan around the free Saturday Christmas Market.
